Entreprenurialism, Investing & Network Marketing

The 3-day effect is something that Marie and I both notice about ourselves.
Basically, we have a pattern. We have 2 really super-productive days, and then the next day is fairly unproductive.
The last 2 days, we've been doing some really great work on some of our sites, and planning for an upcoming marketing campaign that I personally think will be our most profitable yet. We recorded a couple videos and now have everything in place.
So what we've been doing is playing into our strengths like a tennis player who knows she's got a really killer backhand.
We used to feel a little guilty for having such a weak day, but now we realize it's just part of the game. That's how we work best and at our optimal performance.
Having a slow day actually makes us MORE productive the next day after just allowing that day to be unproductive, rather than fighting the trend and trying to make it a productive day when we're just not feeling it.
For example…
When we were taking Rich Schefren's coaching course when he first launched it, we did the KOLBE test, and found that we are naturally best working as hunters. And traditionally, hunters worked 110% for a very short period of time, during the hunt for food, and spent much of the rest of the day lounging around. (By the way, if you are not familiar with Rich's stuff, you can get his free "Manifesto" that started it all. It's basically a whole ebook of core business strategy content for free!)
And I know that makes us sound lazier than we really are, but at heart, we can be "on" for a period of time, and if we force ourselves to work past that point, our productivity drops like a rock. I think this is pretty common among true entrepreneurs, because it would be pretty hard for Marie and I to work a 9 to 5, because that's just not how we are productive. Now that being said, success as an entrepreneur REQUIRES you to work harder for yourself than you would work for somebody else, and at times to do work you would rather just put aside.
But I think it's important to recognize your own patterns and strengths as an entrepreneur, and to learn to play into them.
Work (and indeed life) is much easier when you set it up to work for your strengths.
What do YOU do that makes you hit peak productivity?
I'd love to hear your tips and tricks.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who works like this! This post came at the perfect time because I was feeling very “unproductive” for half of the day today…and it’s a Saturday!
I’ve also come to the realization that I will always be a night owl and stop listening to people who say I should sleep early and wake up early. It’s just not me and I’m not going to fight it any longer
Thanks for such a great post!
Hey Andrew,
Couldn’t agree more with you on that.
I’ve been out of a 9-5 job for over 10 years, and I’ve had times like that as well, where I felt like I was unproductive.
Especially when there are people that say you should do this and this between 9 and 12, and then something else in the afternoon, and I’ve always had a hard time sticking with a schedule like that. There would be something that would get in the way and everything would get off track.
There were many months where I tried getting stuff done early the morning and if I didn’t get it done, I would feel guilty.
Until I finally realized that I should focus on getting the most important tasks completed. There are just a handful of things that need to get done, and as long as I do them, (regardless of the time of the day) that’s all that matters.
Last summer I all of a sudden got the urge to start playing golf. So every morning I would go a hit some golf balls for a couple of hours.
To me that’s productive, because I was doing what I wanted to do, and it made me feel good, so I had no guilt whatsoever, and then I was able to get to the tasks that needed to get done with energy and enthusiasm (because it wasn’t wasted on feeling bad, guilty, and negative).
Great comments. I wish somebody told me this stuff earlier. But nobody told me.
You really had a breakthrough by figuring out that golf in the morning made you more productive. And the enjoyment in life increase, which makes business so much easier.
If I played golf, I’d try that too!
