Poverty is one of the those big concepts that are at once both more elusive and exert more influence on people’s lives than they are aware of.

I posted last week about how people who grew up in a rented apartment are more apt to catch colds than people who grew up in a home that was owned by their parents.  That’s a huge sign that your mindset is a determining factor in how successful you will be.

I read recently in MacLeans about Ireland’s definition of poverty.  I’m still not sure exactly why i thought this was so interesting… but I found the article totally fascinating.  I think part of it is that the Irish definition of poverty is social in a way that would not even be considered on topic in Canada or the United States.  It comes at it from a whole other level that I think is really important, including how many times you have social gatherings each month.
